Grass Cutting: What is too short? |
|
When cutting grass you want to make sure that you do not cut it too short, risking the chances of damaging your lawn. A good rule of thumb is to not cut more than 1/3 of the leaf blade. If the grass is really long, you are better off doing two cuttings in a short period of time. |
NEW LAWN INSTALLATION - Which method is best? If you are searching for a landscaper to install a new lawn or repair your current lawn, you have three options to complete the task: seed, sod, or hydroseed.
- Seed - initially the least expensive of all the methods but requires a great deal of time and is very susceptible to mother nature. Heavy rains can wash away your seed, birds can decide to setup camp on your front lawn and have a feast, and the sun can quickly dry out your seeds.
- Sod - instant lawn but is the most expensive method. May require a great deal of watering. Good for small areas.
- Hydroseeding - economical, easy to care for, weed free, and resilient. Seed, water, fertilizer and a fiber material are mixed together in a tank and then sprayed onto a prepared lawn using a hose. New lawn growth is quick and healthy. Excellent for large areas and hillside lawns.
